All Quiet in Music City
The Virtual Adepts, like the Sons of Ether, were once part of the Technocracy. After the Etherites’ expulsion, the convention of Difference Engineers sprang up around the logical computation and information storage. When WWII occurred, the Adepts pushed for Technocratic involvement, and they secretly aided the Allies despite being forbidden to interfere. After the war, the concept of virtual reality began to be explored, but the Technocracy decided that their theories and concepts, just like the Etherites’, were incompatible with the orderly progression of their vision. Nearly the entire convention immediately joined the Traditions, bringing much needed innovation and inside-information about the Technocracy. Because of the specialized knowledge with computers, hacking, and the internet, Virtual Adepts are the new masters of Correspondence.
The Virtual Adepts are the most comfortable and also the most reliant upon Technology for their magical effects. Because of this reliance, they often have difficulty understanding the perspectives of the other Traditions. Because of the great amount of personal freedom within their organization, the Adepts often get along with Ecstatics. Naturally, they get along perfectly well with the Sons of Ether, and they have the most difficulty interacting with the Dreamspeakers and Verbena.
